1. Plants and regions
Fresh mango fruits of Alphonso, Kesar, Chausa, Bangampali, Mallika and Langra varieties, produced in areas of India designated by the Plant Protection Agency of India as areas where intensive pest control is carried out.
2. Method of transportation
Imported as sea or air cargo.
3. Inspection and certification at the place of production
(1) Inspected by the Plant Protection Agency of India, and accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate issued by the Plant Protection Agency of India stating that the inspection result indicates or is believed to be free of quarantine pests.
(2) The phytosanitary certificate in (1) shall specify the following items:
Not infested by the A. citri fruit fly group and melon fly (hereinafter referred to as "fruit flies").
(a) Disinfection in 4. shall have been carried out.
Unlike traditional irrigation methods that waste large amounts of water through runoff and evaporation, drip irrigation delivers water slowly and directly to the plant roots. This targeted approach ensures that every drop of water is used effectively, improving moisture retention and reducing unnecessary loss.
4. Disinfection at the production site
In a vapor heat treatment facility, saturated steam is used to gradually raise the temperature inside the storage to 50 degrees Celsius or higher, bringing the core temperature of the fresh fruit to 47.5 degrees Celsius, and disinfecting the fruit at that temperature or higher for 20 minutes.
5. Verification by a plant quarantine officer
A plant quarantine officer must verify that the inspection in 3(1) and disinfection in 4 have been carried out properly.
6. Packaging and packaging location
(1) Disinfected fresh fruit must be packaged in materials deemed to pose no risk of intrusion by fruit flies.
(2) The packaging in 3(1) must be carried out in a location deemed to pose no risk of intrusion by fruit flies.
(3) Each package or bundle of packages must be sealed by the Indian plant quarantine agency.
7. Labeling
Each package or bundle of packages of fresh fruit that have been inspected in 3(1) and disinfected in 4 must be labeled to the effect that export plant quarantine has been completed and that the destination is Japan.
